Santa Fe Birthing Community offers breastfeeding
help and support, postpartum care for mom and baby, help and advice
for new mothers, support for moms with twins or premies.

In many countries and cultures, there is a deeply
rooted commitment to support postpartum women and their families. The
need to be nurtured and cared for while growing into new parenthood
is universal.
Unfortunately, the nuclear family has isolated
many from extended care. Many parents find themselves unprepared for the experience of caring for themselves while providing for their newborn’s needs. The initial joy of welcoming a baby into the world can rapidly spiral downward when vital physical and emotional support are absent.
Some of the reasons new families need support are:
• Postpartum women experience huge hormonal shifts
• Sleep deprivation and physical exhaustion
• It is a steep learning curve to learn to feed and care for a baby.
• Parents struggle to interpret the infant's
cues
• Extended family is often geographically distant and/or not available
• New parents are vulnerable following
the birth of their baby
Maternal home care eases the transition into parenthood.
Major and minor complications can be prevented with the presence of
a loving, knowledgeable person. Bonding with the baby is deepened and
the risk of postpartum depression is reduced when parents are nurtured.
Santa Fe Birthing Community Services provides
loving support for the new family, while promoting healing and bonding.
The parent’s
most pressing issue will be the focus for each visit. Some of the issues
we address are:
• Resolving sleep deprivation
• Distinguishing an infant’s cries and cues
• Ways to promote physical and emotional healing
• Breast feeding concerns and questions
• Nutritional needs of the mother
and baby
• Herbal healing
• Providing quality infant care while the mother sleeps
• Connections to community resources
As early postpartum concerns melt away, parents grow in confidence and the new family thrives.
This invaluable home care service works well in 3-4 hour segments at a cost of $25.00 per hour. Arrange for the number of visits you need.
Friends and family may want to gift you with home
care service.
