A birthing woman is supported by having a compassionate
guide consistently by her side. Her courage to move through the intensity
of labor is strengthened. She is able to surrender into the activity
of labor to allow the birth to take place. Reassurance connects her
with her inner knowing of how to move through the labor and birth.

Studies of birth outcomes indicate that doula supported women needed fewer interventions, averaged shorter labors, and experienced increased bonding and satisfaction with their birth experience than the woman who labored without a doula.
As your birth doula:
We are a constant source of support through
your labor and birth, working to unite the energies of everyone present
as one birthing team.
We help the birthing mother in a variety of
ways, which may include: massage, laboring positions, acupressure
points, flower essences for mother and baby, and gathering needed
information for decision making.
We are comfortable being with you in your
home and/or in the hospital.

Fathers and birth partners also appreciate being
nurtured through the intensity of witnessing their partner going through
labor. In the history of humanity, it is only recently that the
father has become a primary support person in labor. The
stress of being a main support is relieved with the presence of a confident
doula, and the partner can more easily access their love for the mother
and baby.
